Seattle Children's Museum | King County, WA

This place is a fantastic destination for kids of all ages, offering a wide variety of activities to keep little ones engaged and entertained for the entire day. From pretend play in the farmers market shopping counters to exploring the US mail truck and fire truck, the interactive exhibits provide endless opportunities for imaginative play. One of our favorite sections was the art and craft area, which offers abundant materials to foster creativity and create memorable experiences for young minds. The construction and building zones are equally impressive, combining fun and learning as kids experiment and construct. The camping area, complete with a cave and engaging wildlife and nature displays, was another highlight of our visits. We’ve been here a couple of times and always spend a full day exploring. The museum’s direct connection via the monorail is a huge plus, especially on rainy days, and the cafeteria above the museum level offers plenty of food options for a convenient break. However, parking can be tricky and expensive, so I highly recommend taking the monorail or a bus. Overall, Seattle Children’s Museum is a must-visit for families looking for a day full of fun, creativity, and learning!

Amazing for kids 1-5 years old. There isn’t a snack area, but you can go up into the Seattle center to snack. Bathrooms are clean. Can get crowded, especially on rainy days or with field trips.

The Seattle Children's Museum is a perfect place to take kids. There a lot of different settings like camping and grocery shopping and other ways for them to do imaginary play. There are also some play areas that let them explore STEM. The membership perk is good value for the price, but I wish the early open was at 9 instead of 930. Families could come in, play for a couple of hours and then have most of the the rest of the day left. This place is a must for those days where the weather is too bad for kids to play outside.

We brought our toddler here and had an absolute blast! The play areas were all so nice for our toddler to play in, its a great spot to spend a few hours for your toddler and kids. Our kiddo absolutely loved the play train tracks.

Awesome place, well designed, with many interactive rooms (including a vet room, a theatre, a construction site, a doctors office, a farmers market, a fire station etc) and activities galore (a hiking trails, a boat, a ball drop, Lego walls etc) Best for kids up to 6-7 years old IMO. Tickets are for the whole day and cover multiple entries if you want to take your little one out for a nap or lunch and bring them in later.

Avoid. Rip off place. So this place charges for parents and kids. $16 -$18 each. Despite parents doing nothing but watching and standing around and looking at their phones. They claim that you will be interacting with them guaranteed. All I see is parents on phones. Kids are fine by themselves. This place isn't as cool as interactive as the one that Olympia. Just be upfront with the pricing, charge more for just the kids. Parents don't go and play around all these little kids toys. Sounds like a dishonest business practice.

The Seattle Children’s Museum is a great spot for little kids, but getting there the first time is a bit of a maze. It’s on the bottom floor of the Armory building — make sure you take the main elevator in the center of the food court, not the side elevators, or you’ll end up wandering around confused. Once you’re inside, though, it’s fantastic. There are tons of activities and play areas, and plenty of seating scattered throughout so parents can actually sit down while the kids explore. My 18-month-old had an absolute blast, and even two hours wasn’t enough time to cover everything at her pace before nap time. The changing rooms and stations are clean and well-maintained, and there are designated snacking areas too. My biggest complaint — and the reason I don’t get a membership — is the parking situation. It’s a mess. There are lots of different parking lots around Seattle Center, but they’re expensive, and most involve a long walk if you’re hauling strollers and kids. If they ever fix that, this place would be perfect. It does get busy, especially on rainy days but it's so big and spacious that it didn't feel too crowded on a Tuesday morning.

So disappointing. Their website says”designed for kids 10 and under.” I would say more like 4 and under. I took a newly turned 6-year-old. He was bored in no time. And he was definitely the oldest child there. It was primarily toddlers. When I mentioned this to the front desk, I was told, “yeah, we’ve been talking about adding something for older kids.” I really wish their website had been more honest. Go to the Pacific Science Center instead. It is large, well-done, very fun, and educational.

Honestly, this place does not deserve the name “Seattle Children’s Museum.” The space is extremely small, with very limited exhibits and almost nothing engaging. The overall experience is worse than a small indoor play area in a shopping mall, let alone a museum. There is little to no meaningful interactive content or educational value. The name sets expectations far too high, and the reality is very disappointing. Not worth a special trip.
