New Orleans Public Library - Main Library | Orleans Parish, LA

Yesterday’s event at the New Orleans Public Library was absolutely wonderful. The book release celebration for Renewed, Volume 3, was beautifully organized and well attended, with an incredible turnout that reflected the strength and talent of our local literary community. The readings were powerful and moving, and it was such a joy to hear so many gifted local writers share their work. I’m especially grateful for the opportunity to celebrate my son being included in this third volume—an experience that was both meaningful and affirming. Special thanks to the Friends of the New Orleans Public Library for their vision, care, and dedication in creating this anthology and hosting such a warm, engaging event. It was delightful from start to finish and a true celebration of creativity, harmony, and community.

This was our first time visiting the New Orleans Public Library - Main Branch. I read some of the previous reviews and was a bit apprehensive, but this was totally unfounded. The staff were super polite and very helpful. They also have three floors of great books on every topic I could imagine and a large free computer room. A really good resource.

Beautiful main branch of the public library! This was a joy to visit (as a librarian traveling to the city from elsewhere. Spacious library full of natural light, extensive collections, well advertised public services. Make sure to see the Paper Monuments display behind the central staircase, and the Lego statue in the children's room (made with Legos donated after Katrina).

History is what’s important. Somehow..someway, visiting to print a paper made me think of pre-Katrina which brought upon so many emotions. When you first enter, the glass boxes hold documents that were signed pre-Katrina (at least that’s what the male staff told me). All of the librarians were sweet, knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to help. The bathrooms were clean, it wasn’t noisy, and there were a couple of security guards in the building. I did see a review mention unhoused people sitting around the building but understand this, they are people too and if they have nowhere else to go, then public places are where they can be so get used to it. I wasn’t threatened by ANYONE while inside or outside of the building so please, go there and take care of your business as usual. Let’s try not to judge people who are struggling to feed and house themselves, thanks. All in all, great library! I didn’t need to use a computer but if I did, a library card wasn’t needed. Also, there’s a working pay phone near the entrance, I could have cried. Highly recommend this library!!

I give this 4 stars becuse i wanted to go with my mom on saturday but ist litteraly just closed. I know there was a water break but cant they just fix it? Even though this happened it is still an incredible library.👍🔥🔥
