Excellent school with highly trained and compassionate teachers. Shifu is unmatched in his knowledge, but is also humble and funny. You will feel like family here. And you will learn traditional Shaolin kungfu. It will improve your mind, body, and soul.

After moving here from the west coast, I searched for a long time for a quality marital arts school. Hands down found it at the Shaolin Institute. The instructors and lessons are of the highest quality in Louisiana. I've made lots of friends and especially love seeing the little ones grow in their skills both physically and mentally.

This place is home and the people are family. I've been training in martial arts for half of my life, starting with Shaolin Kung Fu in another state 20 years ago, and this is one of the most authentic places I've trained. Shifu's knowledge and skill are unmatched. There is no other authentic Shaolin school in NOLA.

Disorganized. The shi fu is rarely there and when he is his lessons are different than the regular instructors, so it’s really hard to figure out what the correct form is. And it’s expensive. They treat the shi fu like a cult leader but he’s just a guy in a robe with a huge ego and a temper.

I began practicing Kungfu about 5 years ago at another school in New Orleans. After spending 1 year at that school I decided to travel to China and visit THE Shaolin Temple. The visit made me realize what I was learning at the time was not authentic Shaolin and not the right fit for me. After trialing other martial arts schools (karate) in New Orleans I found the Shaolin Institute. The Shaolin Institute is a positive and safe environment to learn, grow and challenge yourself without judgement, fear or harshness. What is taught is real Shaolin Kungfu and relaxing Tai chi. I went half way across the world to find what's right here in New Orleans. A place to grow physically and mentally through martial arts AND have fun while doing it.
