About this class

Main Street Swim School in Mission Valley offers a "Little Fish" class for babies and toddlers aged 12 months to 3 years, where you and your little one can explore the water together. It's a great way to introduce your kiddo to swimming in a fun and safe environment. Plus, they have flexible scheduling and free make-up classes, which is a lifesaver when life gets busy. I know finding the right activity can be tough, but this might be a good fit for you and your child.

Families love how much their little ones gain confidence in the water after just a few lessons—one parent even noted their child went from being afraid to jump in to doing it all on her own! If you're on the fence, don't be surprised if you see some serious progress and smiles all around!

After eight months at this swimming school, I unfortunately cannot recommend it. While my six-year-old son has become more comfortable in the water and enjoys jumping in, his actual swimming progress has been minimal considering the time and cost invested. Despite attending weekly lessons for months, he was still placed with mostly 4- and 5-year-olds and was not moved up to the next level — even though at home he can confidently swim across the pool and listens well. Their explanation was that he wasn’t “confident enough,” which did not reflect my observations at all. What disappointed me most was the lack of communication and initiative from the staff. I was never proactively approached with any feedback, suggestions, or ways I could support him at home. I had to ask myself after many months if there was anything I could do, and even then, the response felt vague and disinterested. The lessons are only 30 minutes once a week, with up to 5 children per group, which averages out to about 6–10 minutes of individual attention per child — all for around $120 per month. For that price, I expected a more structured and engaged approach. The coordinator, Bonnie, unfortunately came across as passive and uninvolved. There’s a clear lack of leadership, communication, and professional structure in how the program is run. Overall, while the environment feels safe and friendly, I wouldn’t recommend this school if you’re looking for real swimming progress, clear communication, and value for your investment.

Thank you to all of the staff that help the kids. Bonnie is always so helpful when we have schedule changes. Mirage we appreciate you for being so good with our daughter. I can tell she has alot of fun with you in the pool and she loves the excitement and encouragement of your teaching style.

We love Main Street swim and have seen our granddaughter make so much progress with coach Mirage’s guidance. She started swim class afraid to jump in unassisted and now loves to jump on her own and has so much more confidence in the water. Plus she always has fun in class and splashing her coach. 5 stars!!

We love Main St Swim School in Mission Valley. All the staff and instructors are very friendly and helpful. My daughter loves swimming in her Beginners class with Miss Mia and after just 2 lessons she has gained so much more confidence and skills.

Been a 10 out of 10 experience with Main Street Swim. Mirage is fantastic with our 3 year old who is just learning how to swim. She has not only taken a liking to the water but has shown so much more confidence in and around the pool area. Highly recommend these swim classes to any child looking to learn! Thanks Mirage!
