About this class

Gymboree is your go-to spot on the Upper East Side for vibrant sensory play and fun music sessions that spark creativity!

Gymboree is one of those places that actually knows what they're doing with the little ones - they've got real curriculum backing up their play time, so it's not just expensive babysitting. Your kiddo will get to crawl around on different textures, slide down mini slides, and do all that sensory stuff that makes their brains happy, while you get to chat with other parents who also haven't showered in three days. The teachers are pretty hands-on with guiding activities but they're not militant about it, so if your crawler wants to explore that tunnel for the fifth time instead of doing circle time, nobody's going to stress about it. It's structured enough that you feel like you're actually helping with development, but chill enough that you won't feel like a failure when your kid has a meltdown halfway through. Because let's be real, we're all just winging it and hoping our kids turn out okay!

Families love how their little ones can’t stop dancing and singing the catchy tunes long after class is over!

I hesitated to write a review because we went to a free trial class, which is great that they offer it for free. The instructor was great at keeping the kids engaged and learning. However the classes are in a basement like setting and everything felt dark and dirty. I don’t think the equipment has been updated in years.

Do not come here. Terrible experience. Signed up for a 30 minute toddler class, the instructor showed up 15 minutes late! Apparently they were saying goodbye to another class downstairs. Instructor didn’t have age appropriate tasks. My kid is 15 months old and about 2 feet tall. The first “task” was to throw a ball into a basketball hoop that was 4 feet high. I’m not sure what 15 month old could that do that. Third task we were given hoola hoops to twirl around. Again, I’m not sure what 15 month old could do anything meaningful with a hoola hoop. Kids from the prior class then came upstairs and joined the toddler class. The other kids were 4 to 5 years of age. They were extremely disruptive to the class as they played in ways that the much younger toddlers could not —running around, jumping off things. It just isn’t safe to have such a wide age gap in kids playing in a tight environment. Neither the instructor or manager stepped in to say anything. Equipment is very outdated. Lackluster instruction and oblivious management. I will never come back and warn all parents to stay away.

Absolutely love Gymboree on UES. My son started attending classes here at about 8 months old, and it has now become a part of our daily lives. He goes to at least one class per week, and he plays at the open gym almost every day. The gym is clean, the classes are age-appropriate and interactive, and the instructors are kind and engaging. Gymboree is a great way for babies and kids to explore, learn, and socialize. Very happy we found this place! My son truly loves spending time there.

I love taking my son to Gymboree! He has been going since he is 8 weeks old! The Level 1 class is amazing for new moms and helping the kids progress as they develop! The staff is warm and friendly! The Level 2 Music and Gym Classes are also lots of fun and engaging for the kids!

We love our gymboree classes! Out daughter has been going from 3 months to 2 years and it is by far her favorite activity. She now loves to reenact her gymboree classes with her toys and stuffed animals. The teachers and staff are great, you can tell they love their job and all the kids.
