Had my 31st birthday party here! We painted terracotta plant pots and they all turned out fantastic. Sue was an excellent instructor and a warm, welcoming host. Highly recommend booking her studio for an event!

I had an extremely disappointing experience with sending my 5 year old to Sue’s weeklong "art camp" in June 2024. From the very beginning, it felt like Sue didn’t particularly like or understand the needs of young children, and it was apparent that she lacks patience for kids who don’t follow directions perfectly all of the time. Her approach to managing the class was harsh, and her conduct toward us and other parents was unprofessional (and to my family specifically, very unkind). A particularly disturbing incident occurred on Tuesday 6/18/24 when the basement studio bathroom door got stuck. Instead of informing the parents or making alternative arrangements, Sue had the children pee in a bucket (despite having bathrooms available upstairs in her townhome). This lack of basic consideration for the children's dignity, health, or comfort is inexcusable. The worst part of the experience was when Sue informed me at 8 pm the night before the last day of camp that my child was not welcome the following day. My child had had had a wonderful first three days of camp (as Sue herself said), but struggled a bit on the fourth day. Rather than having compassion or attempting to work with my family on this, Sue made very rude and offensive comments about my child after informing me (again, at 8pm the night before the last day of camp) that our child could not return. This was not only unprofessional but also deeply hurtful, and left us scrambling for childcare with 12 hours notice. This happened even though Sue was fully aware that my younger child was undergoing treatment for brain cancer, and that I was speaking to her while in a hospital room at CHOP. Sue’s camp accepts 5-year-olds, but unrealistically expects them to behave like much older children. She even said to me, "I’m an art teacher, not a babysitter." As a parent, this is very concerning. If you run an all-day camp that includes 5-year-olds, you are necessarily providing childcare as well as giving art instruction. If Sue is not comfortable with that, she should employ additional babysitters to assist her – her camp had only one helper for a class of 15 kids, which is grossly inadequate when some of the children were as young as 5. She seemed incredibly overwhelmed even earlier in the week, but didn’t acquire more help or flag the issue with parents. Overall, this was a terrible experience. Sue’s lack of empathy, poor management, and unreasonable expectations make her camp a place I would not recommend.

Our daughter has been taking Sue’s classes for a while now. This is what she writes about Sue and her Art Studio and we couldn't agree more: “I love Sue’s Art and I definitely love her! She teaches not just kids, but people of all ages. She teaches unique styles and ideas and she goes way beyond just playing with some craft paper, clay and crayons. Sue explains each project step by step and makes sure everyone is on track. Sue’s Art does birthday parties too! They are so much fun and everyone's project turns out so beautiful in the end. Sue makes sure no two people’s projects are the same. She also does workshops! Each workshop I go to I have fun and it’s different each time. Her projects are exciting and no one ever gets bored. Sue is kind to everyone and helps them if they're stuck. I definitely recommend Sue’s Art for those of you who have not already signed up!!”

Sue was helpful throughout the glass painting party I attended. She gave instructions/advice, provided ample supplies, had examples to guide us through the process/design, and also helped with specific questions. I can’t say enough positive things about her and her lovely studio!
