I have only been to a few YMCA locations. This location the staff was so friendly and helpful! My kids and I enjoyed visiting for the week long try the Y membership. I give this place 5 stars due to being spotless. Nothing is out of order. They have racketball courts, jogging track, swimming pool, sauna, 3 different locker rooms. The family locker room has individual lockable showers and toilets. We love everything about this place and ended up getting a Y membership! Thank you all for being awesome.

This is not the YMCA of the past! This is Downtown Frederick’s newly and gorgeously renovated, state of the art and always convenient, egym equipped, with a new spa like atmosphere and luxuries such as steam rooms, saunas and a very large (and super clean) whirlpool/jacuzzi and two large/heated indoor pools. You can work out among friends in various and fun classes or solo in an exercise room all to yourself, with a virtual instructor. The staff is always friendly and helpful and all the members keep the equipment sanitized after every use. The aerobic equipment and universal weights are state of the art and the Y app is probably the most useful app next to my Fitbit, for my healthy adventures 😅 Even the coffee is great and relaxing to hang in the new members lounge with functional and super comfy furniture. The membership rates are super reasonable! I cannot say enough good about the Y in DTF and if you have not been here since Sept. 2023 or before…Come in and rediscover your brand new and really beautiful YMCA!!

(2/2/24) - This was my first time visiting - what a great facility. The place was spotless and very well maintained. The Staff was very professional and courteous. I look forward to returning (making good use of my new membership!). Update (2/7/24) - The YMCA of Frederick County Teaching Kitchen has a fresh produce donation/sale 3p-6p, every Wednesday. Available items may vary from week to week. Check the Facebook page for the weekly specifics and/or stop by. The Teaching Kitchen is detached from the main facility and is located at 629 North Market Street. I spent $17 for a very good amount of healthy produce (see photo) and intend to take advantage of this opportunity weekly.

As a full-time mom the thing I enjoy the most other than the pool classes that come with the membership, is the fact that I'm able to bring my daughter and let her stay there for 90 minutes Monday to Saturday while I focus on myself. And that is part of the membership. I wish I'd found this earlier because I have not been able to do anything without spending a fortune when it came to dropping my daughter off somewhere. I 100% recommend the YMCA.

For how much money you pay ($60/mo), you really get very little above something like a Planet Fitness which is 1/6th (one sixth) the monthly membership fee. The hours are very limited (never open past 9, closed at 6 and 4 on sat/sun) and the one distinguishing thing about this place is the whirlpool, which has been closed as often as it has been open (for deep cleaning, repair or chemical imbalance). What are you getting for your money here?
