This gym is critically understaffed, with no spotters or helpers leading to an unsafe environment and idle class time. The owner does not communicate to parents or students that they value and teach injury prevention even when directly asked. The environment is unfriendly both to new children and their parents. In 4 weeks I and m child do not recall the intructor smiling at or positively interacting with my child other than to give out a gummie bear without interaction at the end of class like they were dogs being trained. Coaches are allowed and encouraged to insult and belittle club students. When approached about these interactions I observed excuses of "being like family" were made. Club coaches spend most of the class time I observed sitting on the sidelines shouting directions at children not positively interacting, assisting and modeling. The non club coach does not possess the ability or chooses not to show students well executed examples of the action the are "teaching". When discussions were had about these issues we were told my child was not a good fit for their club if the negative interactions were not ok with us. As the only (currently) available gymnastics gym in Juneau I know many families put up with these habitual problems and have told me as much, thinking they have no choice if their child wants to participate in gymnastics. I only wish I had taken the multiple bad reviews from friends as fact and not wasted $100+ on classes and gotten my child's hopes up only to be disappointed.
