About this class
Janet brings everything to your place - mats, props, the works - and tailors each session to whatever's bugging you that week, whether it's back pain, anxiety about labor, or just needing to slow down and breathe. The whole thing sounds really chill and supportive, not like those intimidating classes where everyone seems to know what they're doing except you.
It's definitely an investment at $150 per session, but honestly, when you're growing a human and everything hurts, sometimes paying for convenience and personalized attention is worth every penny. We've all been there where the thought of getting dressed and going somewhere feels impossible, so having someone come to you might be exactly what you need.

Janet came to our apartment for the childbirth class and I can’t emphasize how helpful and amazing it was for me and my husband as first time parents. She brings an extremely calming energy and has so much knowledge to share. She taught us what to expect during labor, different scenarios we may face, and how to advocate for ourselves. I came out of the class feeling so much more confident about going into labor and what to expect, and so did my husband. I used tools she taught me during labor and I believe it helped me immensely. Can not recommend Janet’s class more highly!

Wow! We would not have made it without Janet and Danielle (NYC Birth and Baby). I just recently had my first baby and we found this website online when I researched for a doula. I was amazed by how much experience and knowledge was listed in Janet’s Bio and we wanted to meet her right away. When you know you know- and both my husband and I knew right away when we met her that she has to be the Doula for us. I think that was the single best decision we made for our birth experience. We took a childbirth class from Janet and a Baby Care and Infant CPR- super important- from Danielle before, all classes are at home and private- we can only recommend getting informed as much as you can before your baby is born. I had an all natural birth - I used my hypnobirthing which Janet totally supported. Janet was very caring even before I went into labor and always checked up on me and made sure to be ready when I get into labor. The moment I told her that I think things are moving along and that I feel like I am in labor she came right over. She did counterpressure on me and put heat on my back because I felt all my contractions in my lower back, I definitely felt some relief. We also tried some different positions to get the contractions away from my lower back. She supported me in any way possible and also let me do my own thing when she knew I got it. After the successful and pretty quick birth she stayed and helped me recover and get breastfeeding going. She celebrated with us afterwards and took pictures for us. The hospital was understaffed (nurses and cleaning staff) and Janet stayed with us for hours afterwards to help me to the bathroom, make sure I get ice and that I get checked up on. The postpartum room wasn’t ready for another half day so we stayed in our delivery room for a very long time. Janet kept saying she wants to stay to help us move to our new room but after 8hours there still wasn’t any end in sight so we sent her home, I felt so bad keeping her for so long but Janet insisted. I had my best friend who flew in there to help us, so she knew we weren’t alone. We would not have made it without her for the first few hours postpartum. Janet kept checking in with my husbands to make sure we were doing great and I was recovering well. Then it was our postpartum visit and Janet came with a lovely gift. She asked if we need help with anything or have any questions and to feel free to reach out to her in the future or just meet for a coffee. Even though Janet helped with the first few hours of breastfeeding, Danielle, who is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, came the day after we got out of the hospital because my milk came in and I needed immediate help. Thank god Danielle was super responsive and came to our home on a Sunday and showed me everything I needed to know. How to soothe the pain and more advice and positioning with breastfeeding. She stayed for a few hours and made sure I was feeling better before she left, and I really did. I texted her multiple times after her visit for some advice about smaller issues related to breastfeeding and she always gave me so much time to explain everything and how to help the issue. Janet and Danielle are really the best team you could have by your side for your child birth, whether it’s your first or second or third. Especially if you are trying to have an all natural childbirth, but I know they will be able to support you in any way for the birth you are wishing for because they have so much knowledge, experience and passion for their jobs. We know that if we have another baby those two will have to be by our side again. Thank you so much for everything you have done for our family.

Janet was FABULOUS! My husband and I truly enjoyed getting to know her and her approach to teaching was perfect for us. It was incredibly helpful to have a private birthing class (so we could ask all of the questions we needed) and Janet wonderfully tailored the class to what we were most interested in learning. She was super sweet, friendly, thorough with what we needed to learn, and patient with all of our questions. We left feeling confident in our new knowledge and thankful we were able to narrow down (with Janet's help) our favorite breathing/birthing choices. This was a wonderful experience and we highly recommend working with Janet!

Took both the CPR and childbirth class at home and both were great! So convenient to have Danielle and Janet come to our home. The classes were very informative and helpful, would highly recommend if you are looking for a class that covers all the basics you need to know without needing to leave your home.

Highly recommend these ladies. We took Danielle’s private infant care class and learned a lot. The private setting was nice because we had the chance to spend time on areas we had more questions about and gloss over some of the ones we were more familiar with. Scheduling was a breeze, and we plan to keep in touch with Danielle post birth for lactation support as well. This is the kind of personal care and attention you want! **Update** If I hadn't had Danielle's guidance on breastfeeding before the birth of our son, I would have been lost. The hospital nurses were helpful, but it was Danielle's instructions that made me feel confident and successful in the hospital environment.
