Van Cortlandt Library, Arline Schwarzman Building | The Bronx, NY

The space is amazing. Also the staff is beyond rude. It really feels like the moment you walk in they start roaming around you telling you that it’s closing. Which brings me to the question? Who is this library for? The hours are very accommodating to stay at home parents but not to working parents.

Cute little library. The ladies upstairs were nice, warm, and welcoming. However, one of the gentleman downstairs (bald-headed) was super dismissive and unwelcoming, almost as if I was wasting his time when I merely asked how many floors this location had. Will be avoiding that man during my future visits.

We love this library. Some of the staff are very pleasant. Love the activities they do with the kids and they have tutoring as well for the kids. Delores is awesome with the kids when tutoring. Johnson, Ken and Dolores are amazing with the kids too. The library is super clean and neat.

I stopped by this library in order for my son to be part of their story time and unfortunately the volunteer that does it didn't come in that day. One of the staff member at this library made our experience so memorable. He opened the play area so my son could play with all the cool toys that they have available. My son had a blast!!! Thank you to that worker for your kindness. We will definitely be visiting this library again!!

The new library is spectacular. The staff from the old branch is still here, and I, for one, couldn't be happier about that.. great bunch of people. Someone mentioned a rude security guard? At the old branch, there wasn't any security. Never saw any sign of racism, EVER. If your son was disruptive, that's on you. Don't blame skin color for that, good grief. The new building does have security guards and they seem pleasant enough. In conclusion, new library is a breath of fresh air and Mr. P. along with Mr. J. run a tight ship and nonsense is not tolerated. Good on them!
