I only briefly stopped in with my kids while traveling. The children's section is really great. There are plenty of books for them to choose from, along with toys and play structures. My one-year-old enjoyed playing while my five-year-old browsed. An excellent library!

Our family has been frequent visitors to the Rochester Public Library, and we can't speak highly enough about the wonderful experiences we've had there. The library is a true gem in our community, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere that has become a favorite spot for our kids. From the moment we walk through the doors, our children are captivated by the vast array of books and engaging activities. The children's section is thoughtfully designed, filled with colorful shelves and cozy reading nooks that invite young readers to explore. There’s always something new to discover, whether it’s the latest popular series or classic tales that spark their imagination. One of the greatest advantages of the library is the extensive selection of books available for borrowing. Our kids have developed a genuine love for reading, thanks to the access to diverse genres and age-appropriate materials. From picture books to chapter books, the library has something for every reading level, encouraging our children to dive into new adventures and expand their horizons. The staff at the Rochester Public Library are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to help us find the perfect book or recommend new reads. Their enthusiasm is infectious, and it makes our visits even more enjoyable.

A terrific library with an abundance of resources and programs. My one critique is that I would love earlier morning hours. I understand funding and staffing are likely at play but often times I wish I could stop in earlier on days I'm waiting for a car repair or some other appointment and desire a free third space to go to.

It’s a decent library, but I’ve been to better. I always seem to have issues with the parking and can never seem to find a spot. It’s kind of noisy every time I’m inside (which is not the case with most of the other libraries I’ve been to)… it’s not horrible but there is definite room for improvement. Update on 4/10/25: Very limited seating. I feel like it's almost impossible to find a seat that has an outlet, too. It's loud for a library.

Stopped in during a used book sale and bought a bunch of Garrison Keillor novels and regional tourism books. The staff is very nice and incredibly helpful. There’s a whole section on comic books and there’s also a pretty significant selection of DVDs. A fun place to stop if you are spending the weekend.
