I really love this library and appreciate everything it offers for families, but I’ve had some disappointing experiences in the kids’ area. A few staff members have come across as rude and unhelpful, which makes it less welcoming than it should be—especially for children. On a couple of occasions, the behavior felt not just unfriendly but also uncomfortable in a way that raised concerns about bias. That’s particularly troubling in a space that’s supposed to be inclusive and supportive for all families. I still value this library and hope this feedback is taken seriously. With a more positive and respectful approach from staff, especially in the children’s section, this could truly be a great experience for everyone.

I have lived in Ridgewood for most of my life, and growing up I visited the Queens Library frequently. One of the library’s strongest qualities has always been its excellent selection of books. There is a wide variety of titles available, which makes it a valuable resource for readers in the community. That said, the main issue I have experienced at this location is the noise level on the ground floor, which is designated for children under 13. While it is understandable that this area is intended for younger visitors, it is often extremely loud, with children running and shouting throughout the space. Libraries are generally expected to provide a quiet environment where people can read, study, or work, and the noise in this section can make that difficult. When I was around 11 years old, I began using the teen section upstairs instead, largely because it offers a much quieter and more appropriate atmosphere for reading and studying. The upstairs area feels much more like the calm and focused environment most people associate with a library. Overall, the library’s strong book selection is the primary reason I am giving it two stars. With better noise management on the ground floor and perhaps a few additional copies of popular titles, this location could provide a much better experience for visitors.

Been going here since middle school. They always have programs for kids to do after school. It's a great and safe space for everyone. The librarians are friendly and very helpful. They have printers and computers. It has everything you'd probably need and its free. There's been a upgrade from before but it still has the same feeling 💗.
