Love the computer lab. Their AC is amazing and the bathrooms are clean. Note, this a public space where everyone is welcome, so you might encounter people from all walks of life. Some staff members are helpful and courteous. The security guard is rude, and thankfully you don't have to engage him.

The staff were welcoming, patient and knowledgeable - especially Anthony! Signing up for a library card was a quick and easy process - you even get to choose your library card color or the limited-edition design unlike the standard red one for Manhattan.

Very disappointed with my experience at this library. I came in with my son and my service dog, and before I even had a chance to explain anything, the security guard immediately started giving me dirty looks and telling me that my dog had to stay outside. He never asked if my dog was a service animal and instead spoke to me in a rude and disrespectful manner. What made the situation even worse was how he treated my son. After the interaction, the security guard continued to stare at him and give him unfriendly looks, making him feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. No child should feel intimidated while visiting a public library. My service dog was calm, well-behaved, and not causing any problems. A simple, respectful conversation would have gone a long way, but instead I was met with hostility from the moment I walked in. I expect library staff and security personnel to treat visitors with courtesy and professionalism, and unfortunately that was not the case here. I hope management addresses this issue and provides better training on interacting with patrons who have service animals.

Queens readers can consider themselves very lucky...that Manhattan and Brooklyn are nearby, because, of the three library systems in NYC, QPL is, by far, the worst. The various branches are fine (but barely climate controlled). The librarians range from mediocre to terrible. But the actual cataloging system seems deliberately designed to deter peoplw from finding anything to read. For one thing, there are no dedicated location based catalogs at all and no useful signage, so if, God forbid, you stop in without a specific book in mind, there is no way to easily narrow your choices down to something on site and available. Everyone is directed to use the web catalog and, well....try it. Go ahead, I'll wait. Did you narrow it down to books and printed materials and then get confused that half the results are DVDs? Since no matter what you search produces hundreds of results did you sort by author name and then wonder what alphabet they're using as no discernable order cam be found? Did you click one hundred times on "load more" (because scrolls are a BAD THING)? Did you open multiple tabs and then find you were logged out (in spite of clicking the popup that says "DO NOT LOG ME OUT) and that all the tabs have reverted to the home page? And the. Did you try all over again with the same settings and then get handed a new list that's in an entirely different order, so you will never know exactly what you may have missed or not? Well, that's apparently what they want. I assume this library is mainly run by folks who are deathly afraid someone will actually check out a book--makes sense, since numerous books I've checked out have been defaced by patrons, and when you let the librarian know they will be confused as to why you're bothering them. Please, go here ONLY if they have the only copy of something, otherwise, take an R or an N into the city and go to a professional library where they understand what alphabet to use.

The most miserable and incompetent “Assistant Manager”. Very rude and condescending when asked basic questions about meeting rooms. I was directed to Davia to inquire about programs within the library. She acted as though I was inconveniencing her as she stared at her screen. Clearly she is immature and you can tell by the stale grey pigtails she is attempting to bring back into style. More focused on playing in her hair than providing community service.She looks well over 70 but has very little customer etiquette despite being so vintage. I’d rather hold a meeting on the street than anywhere she “manages”. Thrifty clothes a bad attitude and a face for radio.
