I enrolled in Plus Pool’s Adult Learn to Swim classes last fall. I love water, but my first experience with swimming lessons as a child left me feeling afraid and unconfident for years. Cameron, Anna and Willow are amazing and effective instructors. They are patient, kind, funny, informative and teach with care. I appreciate the way the cadence of each class moves between group learning as well as quick one-on-one check ins and encouragement. In just two cycles of classes I can now swim in the deep end without feeling like I’m going to drown. Their instruction has helped me figure out how to be more present in my body, how to breathe, how to slow down and how to begin trusting myself in the water.

Enrolled my daughter in an advanced swim class at the Lehman location. These lessons are great and fun for her younger years for water safety, but not necessarily for older children who can swim. My daughter in Advanced Swim had a great first lesson fit for her level, but that coach left. The group lessons thereafter felt more like water play versus athletic training and she didn’t feel challenged. Also, the swim coach stopped joining the kids in the pool and directed class by the pool edge, but possibly because this was an advanced class. The girls locker room regularly allowed female caregivers with their boys. Boys were seen looking at girls and vice versa. Fortunately the stalls have shower curtains for privacy. The academy had a policy about not letting boys into the girls room, but Physique did not enforce that. The group lessons are great and fun for little kids. The coaches are friendly and laidback. But beyond the beginner level, for one who enjoys competition and wants to learn to swim like an athlete, this might not be the school for it.

If you love having concepts deconstructed into bite-sized crudité, then Coach Raphael Bock is your person for private swim lessons. Coach Bock is attentive, patient, and unflappable. Each lesson from Coach Bock is a master class tailored just for you. The stars are aligned and the cosmos explodes with joy under the tutelage of Coach Nyrie Jones. Her intuitive approach to swim instruction will have you not just swimming but falling in love with swimming and giving thanks at the end of each session for what you can accomplish when your body and mind are in sync.

My daughter has been taking classes at physique swimming at their Upper East location for several years now. The instructors are excellent and skilled at working with kids and adults of all ages and skill levels. What I appreciate the most is how flexible they are with makeup classes - love the customer-first attitude.

Went to their Brooklyn location, in 274 Garfield Pl, close to the Prospect park. Everyone is very supportive and progressional. For sure I will come back and also highly recommend to others.
