Asked for a pair of headphones and was homeless & couldn't afford even the $1 they cost. A woman staying in the exact same shelter asked for help to get some and they helped her but not me. They wouldn't even give me a mask. Shitty people working at this location who pick and choose who needs help based off of their personal feelings and vendettas.

Beautiful landmark to visit - and the Treasure Room is amazing, I went to kill time and wound up taking the most fantastic tour with HILDA - I was so sad to leave early bc that tour was really A+++ (1st printed Bible, handwritten letter from Geo Washington, original Winnie the Pooh stuffed animals, and the ornate ceiling & room itself)

Beautiful site. They have places where you can do work and quiet study. I will bring my laptop for next time to fully enjoy it.

I was excited to visit this New York Public Library branch after seeing the stunning photo of its soaring ceiling. Sadly, service and décor didn't match. The front desk librarian gave zero help and a smug, pretentious, condescending attitude. Shockingly poor customer service for a public library.

Update: I’ve noticed significant improvements as well as excellent books :) Convenient location but the people that work here are nasty. Makes for an unpleasant experience at what is supposed to be a quaint library. Also, the hours are bad - always during work and they lock the door in advance of 6pm. Thirdly, on a wintery day like today they are closed even though they are supposed to be open. The door says there was “an emergency”. It’s just not well staffed ☹️
