A really cute library. Very friendly staff and very well maintained library. I love the architecture of the building and the little cute spots within. A very comfortable and clean area for little kids as well. Definitely worth checking this place out. No registration required for access to library but you need to sign up (for free) to rent out books.

I absolutely love this library! Weiss Gonzalez is extremely helpful. She goes above and beyond. Weiss always answers all my questions and informs me of other benefits and programs that the Houston Library offers. So grateful for this library and this librarian!

Built in 1925, this library building, an architectural gem, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. Stately live oak trees grace the front entrance. In his books and interviews, Dan Rather tells how visiting this library as a youngster opened his eyes to the world. There is a sense of history. The staff is friendly. The stacks are well organized with a nice selection of fiction and non-fiction. They have a nice display of new books. It definitely has a neighborly feel. I like the new conveyor belt scanner system installed in June 2025 that automatically checks in books. Remember the Dr. Seuss quote - " The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."

This Is a really great library to go to if you need to use the internet in peace. They have really helpful librarians especially this guy in the pics. I didn't know how to download pdf files and instead of him making me feel bad he helped m through the entire process. I really couldn't have gotten it done without his help. They have safe parking and it's in a good area. This is a good place to take your kids.

Terrible place to study or work in peace. It’s one thing if kids are being loud but there was a table of grown men talking and laughing as though they were at a cafe. Had to ask a librarian after a while to tell them to lower their voices, which they did for a bit and then immediately went louder again. Not like a library at all with all the loud conversations people had.
