This is the second time I've received a notification that a book was ready for pickup at the Kings Highway Library, only to arrive and be told they couldn't find it. I was told it may be related to another library branch closing, but it's frustrating that this keeps happening. I place books on hold for a reason. Like many people, I have a busy schedule and can't easily make extra trips to the library. Going out of my way twice, only to find that the book isn't actually available, has been very disappointing. The staff members have always been polite and friendly, which I appreciate, but the hold and pickup system seems to have some serious issues that need to be addressed. Unfortunately, after this happening more than once, I can only give two stars.

In my opinion, this place is nice, clean and quiet. Nothing amazing, but you can not expect too much from small and, probably, not very well funded library. There are two floors, boy's & and girls' restrooms on each floor. Drinkin water fountains. On the first floor, besides books and CD discs, you will find computers for open use and laptops for rent. The second floor has a small playground for little kids, tables with chairs, a big variety of books in foreign languages for any ages, and many, many more. Some librarians are not very friendly or even rude sometimes. But during our visit today, on August 22nd, 2024, at about 5-5:30 pm, we had a pleasure to meet a very nice and professional librarian lady on the second floor, who helped us to find what we came for! Unfortunately, I did not ask her name. I hope this library will be better funded because some of the shelves are partially empty or have old and tattered books.

I had a frustrating experience at the library today. My robotics team and I were working quietly in a shared space, and before starting, we confirmed with staff that it was okay for us to be there as long as we remained quiet. However, we were approached by another staff member who told us we were not allowed to work there and needed special permission, even though other people in the same area were working freely. Later, I was also told I couldn’t attend a quiet Zoom meeting, despite having already confirmed with staff that it was allowed. This felt inconsistent and unfair, especially since we were being respectful and following the rules we were given. I hope the library can clarify its policies and ensure that all visitors are treated consistently.

The environment at the Brooklyn Public Library has become quite noisy lately. Many people are talking loudly, dragging bags around, and there have even been arguments between visitors. It makes it difficult to focus or study. I hope the administration can take steps to maintain a quieter and more respectful atmosphere.

I regularly attend Shape Up with Nicole Kalantzis at this library, and these classes have had a truly positive impact on my life. Nicole is a wonderful professional — kind, supportive, and inspiring. Her classes helped me gain confidence and even motivated me to start studying to become a yoga instructor myself here in the U.S. Programs like this at the New York Public Library are incredibly important for community wellness. I am deeply grateful for this program and for everything Nicole brings to it. Thank you for supporting programs that help people grow and heal.🙏✨
