I’ve loved my experience at Bloomingdale. I started in a group class before shifting into individual lessons for guitar. I always wanted to play the guitar. I begged for one as a kid but never had access to lessons, it wasn’t something the schools I went to provided. Bloomingdale gave me a space with great people and an incredible instructor (Gabi) and funding to make this dream a reality. Thank you Bloomingdale!

BSM is a wonderful school with amazing teachers. Our daughter started rhythm classes when she was not even 1 year old and for the past few years she has been taking piano lessons. Both teachers were kind and patient, and overall very dedicated to teaching and spreading the joy of music.

For what it is, this place is lovely. They really like teaching music to kids. I don't know if they're going to turn my daughter into a maestro, but they'll help introduce her to musical concepts and piano basics, which is what we're looking for. They're super friendly and accommodating.

I was disappointed to have a subpar experience here, after hearing wonderful things from other families in the community. We enrolled my six year old in private piano lessons, her first music lesson of any kind. She was very excited. After three lessons, she had yet to touch the piano. The teacher was more focused on music theory - lofty ideals, but this was a kid who was just curious to touch the keys and try the piano out. She wanted to actually play! Needless to say, she was disappointed, and so were we. As musicians ourselves, we understand the value of music theory and foundations, but at the end of the day, you have to engage a young kid or else they lose interest. This did not happen. The lessons also started late consistently, but did not go late, so the 30 minute lessons were shorter than 30 mins. This may be a teacher specific review. In any case, we were bummed and will be finding another place for our kids to learn.

Love music, have kids, want them to be inspired? Look no further. Its the music that we choose! A wonderful place to learn music through play, patience, and practice. Lovely, dedicated teachers take each student's needs seriously. Bloomingdale Music of School is invested in the families and students who attend. So happy to have found a community that loves music as much as we do and values each person as an end in themselves, rather than a means to some end. Our four year old is committed to music, but easily distracted, and our teacher at Bloomingdale worked with us to make class productive and inclusive for everyone. These moments restore our faith in humanity.
