Nice bright natural lighting, clean. Strong wifi. Some areas are blocked off for children / teens (teens section blocked off at 2pm). There’s a ramp to get in and an elevator.

Older photos of the gorgeous reading room are misleading as the upstairs is apparently now for children only. Staff was helpful and polite and there was adequate seating downstairs.

This is one of my favorite NYPL in the city. Even though it doesn’t carry the biggest selection of books and materials, it possesses a quiet study room one floor below, where there no activity whatsoever. Most libraries I’ve visited are quite silent, but there is always some kind of activity going on- people are walking by, picking up/returning books at the front desk, etc. This room is distant from all the activities mentioned above. I am glad I live close by and can visit often. *During the warmer months there is an outside garden area which is quiet and you can enjoy some fresh air. !!!The only thing to note is that the Study room is not open at all times. There needs to be a registered volunteer present, and sometimes there is none, but most of the times I’ve been there, it’s been all good.

Many of the reviewers speaking of staff negatively have no idea what these people do on a daily basis and take interactions that have nothing to do with themselves out of context. Judge only your own interactions. This place is amazing. Super busy and still a gem tucked away on a side street.

This location is one of the nosiest libraries I have been to. There is definitely a lot of entitlement among patrons who don't respect library quiet rules, but there is also poor enforcement of quietness by library staff. There is reasonable seating and books available but I couldn't enjoy them because of the noise.
