SafeSplash Swim School - West Warwick | Kent County, RI
About this class
SafeSplash feels like the kind of swim school that really pays attention to where your kiddo is at - they're big on tracking progress and actually telling you about it, which is refreshing since some places just throw kids in the water and hope for the best. They do these "Splash-N-Tell" sessions where your little one gets to show off what they've learned, and honestly, kids eat that stuff up because they love having an audience for their new skills. What I appreciate is that they seem to get that every kid learns differently and at their own pace, so there's less of that pressure to keep up with the class overachiever. The whole safety-first thing isn't just marketing speak either - they really do focus on actual water safety skills that could save your child's life, not just making them look like they can swim. Because at the end of the day, we all just want our kids to be safe around water and maybe not have a meltdown every time bath time rolls around.
Families love how their little ones eagerly shout, 'I can swim like a fish!' after just a few classes at Safesplash. It's heartwarming to see kids not only gain confidence in the water but also develop a true love for swimming!

Really enjoying starting swim classes with our 6 month old so far! I have looked forward to baby swim classes since before my son was born and got anxious about hearing sudden poor reviews of the only swim school near town for babies. So I was really excited to try out gold school and decided to wait the couple of months while it was being built before starting my son. We’ve had 3 weeks of classes so far since opening and everything has been super clean, sanitary, organized, friendly staff and bright colors etc. Really love the warm water and the great set up they have for changing/drying suits etc. I was a little surprised by how young so many of the instructors looked at first, but everyone’s been great and happy to see you, etc! I also love how so far each class they’ve managed to do a few different/new activities each week to vary it up. This past week the babies got to sit in a canoe boat!

We have been attending this swim school for years now. We started back when it was Ripples and under different ownership. The transition was awkward and towards the end of the Ripples era the turnover of instructors was constant and I felt that the work atmosphere was too relaxed for the instructors and it was more of a social event for them than a professional atmosphere. It continued after the transition and at that time I decided to take a break for a while. We recently returned a couple months ago and I am so pleased with the physical updates as well as the huge improvement in professionalism. We requested Mr. Ethan as our instructor who we had in our prior lessons and really liked. He’s very attentive, great with the kids, and professional. He has been there every week and it appears the other instructors have been consistent as well. My only complaint is the showers. The floor is kinda nasty and the water is really difficult to get warm for some reason. A bathing suit dryer thing would be a great addition too! Otherwise, I’ve been very satisfied with our experience this time around.

The team at West Warwick are truly exceptional! They make our family feel so welcomed and special. The facilities are great, showers and changing rooms; and the playroom will entertain your tots. Not a bad place for parents to chit chat and watch their little swimmer excel on their skills.

The people at the center are wonderful, the instructor and the folks at the reception are great. They know our kids by name, and we have had no trouble with the people there. However, the customer service folks are horrible. The customer service is handled by a centralized call center, which is horrible. This message is for the owners, please see if this culture could be changed. This morning(May 4, 2025), I called the customer service. I called to reschedule a make-up class. First off, "Aaron" who received the phone, did not have to be rude. They simply let me know that they could not reschedule a make-up class. The tone was indignant. I asked where I could find this policy. He did not know, said 'somewhere in the parent portal'. I insisted that if he didn't know, could he please ask someone who knew? A few minutes later, I got an answer. I called after reading the section I was pointed to. I read the paragraph to him. Nowhere did it say that I could not request a reschedule before missing a make-up class. Then he looked for a long time and said there was nothing available(son takes private lessons). I asked if I could be connected to the West Warwick center directly, and after some time, I was told the location didn't respond. I would have been fine otherwise, but at this point, I wanted to see if they truly didn't have any availability. My husband drove to the location and was able to reschedule with a smile. No questions asked. The person behind the phone from the centralized call center wanted to enjoy their Sunday and didn't appreciate us bothering them. This is the second time we have had a terrible experience with the customer service.

EDIT: Changed from 5 stars to 3 stars. Original company was sold to Safe Splash and we were NOT fans of the new programming and setup. We cancelled our membership and don't plan to return. Dance class has been much more enjoyable for both parents and child. ---------------- They do an excellent job here, keeping the kids entertained while teaching them. Very friendly and well organized.
